she left on her jet plane...

At 8:15 this a.m. annalise flew off to Traverse City, Michigan for a summer at Interlochen Camp for the Arts. She's been anticipating this for months, since before she got the 11x17 envelope congratulating her on her acceptance into the Advanced Choral Program.
She loves to sing more than anything. When she was tiny she sang all the time. Somehow time sped up 1000 times and now she's 17.

I'm reminded of the first time I put her on a plane by herself. She was 5. She was the darlign of the airplane, the stewardesses sat with her, brought her special things. I lived in Seattle and her Dad lived in Texas and she flew between one place and the other, no fear, no worries.

Today, just like back then, I stayed and watched the plane taxi and didn't take my eyes off it as it flew away and disappeared taking with it the biggest piece of my heart.

I'm excited for her, my tears are not bound in logic, just in the bittersweet moment when we both teared up and said goodbye and knowing that she really is on her way, not just to camp, to her own dear adulthood. A parting for both of us.
