capote

A film of subtle moments, brilliant, finely tuned acting, exceptional set design. If you've read In Cold Blood, you know how Trumane Capote can turn a moment into an experience for a reader, how he can create a paragraph that will both tell the story and make you read it over a few times because each sentence is so well crafted. The film is the same, there are no star moments, there is only a fine light seam, hardly visible from scene to scene, as the story unfolds. A film that allows time for exposition shots, beautifully composed, to linger, a farmhouse in the middle of a field, the rows of corn gently blowing, a row of brick buildings, windows closed, curtains drawn, a long pause between lines, camera lingers on the eyes as we watch a thought flicker on a face.
I could go on, but I better just say it's recommended: 4 Stars.
