Saturday
Saturday I began year number 43. First of all, I love the number 3. Second of all, I had a wonderful birthday.
I woke early, 5:45 or so. I met my marathon team and only the guys showed up. We ran 6 miles and at mile three, the boys smoked me. I ran the three miles back at my own pace, a little over 11 miles/minutes. It was nice. Nice cool morning, good long run.
On the way back I realized this is the longest I've ever run.
Sure, I've been on horses for miles and motorcycles for miles and I've snowboarded and I've hiked for miles and I've climbed. This was the first time I'd run for 6 miles and I did it on my birthday.
Running rules. I love it. I love the forward motion; I love how it gives me a clearer mind and a little focus. I love that my legs are getting stronger, my body leaner, my smile, brighter.
After my run, I came home and Steve kissed me a million or so times, then made breakfast. Then I met my friend Tandy and she treated me to a massage, and a manicure and a pedicure. Another first.
Then I came home and Steve made dinner so Annalise and I went to Vulcan and I got two free videos (1 cause it's my birthday and 1 cause I had rented 10 times).
Came home and dinner was almost ready.
Steve made pecan crusted orange roughy and potatoes and asparagus and special tarragon mayonnaise sauce and salad and we and pears and cheese and strawberries and crackers.
Red Velvet cake with a candle while my daughter and my boyfriend, both singers, sang the weirdest version of Happy Birthday I’ve ever heard.
I got some great presents, too.
Annalise gave me a candle and a parking goddess to help me find free parking. I cried. The parking goddess goes back a few years, to the car accident and my fear that this little silver fake goddess contributed to her wounds. I felt the edges, all smooth, all easy. Strange where your mind goes, how relieved I was that the silly little thing probably wasn't at fault. Strange what makes me cry these days.
Steve gave me a copy of the movie, Paris, Texas. Wim Wenders is one of my favorite filmmakers and people and my Mom was born in Paris, Texas. He also gave me a belt for my running; I can store water bottle and packets of goo stuff and my keys! And he gave me an extra pouch for my stuff, as I'll need it on the marathon. He gave me a book, The Spirit of the Marathon. It has the stories of people who completed their first marathon. It's inspiring, I love it.
My Mom called and I thanked her for everything. My brother called, I told him I love him and he returned it. I told Annalise and Steve how much I love them.
I am happy. I am blessed.
It’s overwhelming sometimes. I am glad I had a few bad times, some rough years, it makes this time more tangible and solid, rooted in what is real. I am grateful.

Many teens hide deepest secrets in plain sight
Blame it on bawdy talks shows and reality television. Today's teens are telling tales of ... It's the "Jerry Springer syndrome," said Patrick O'Malley, a marriage and family therapist in Fort Worth.
The basics of wording is simple to understand.
