the year ahead

What I want to do in this my 43rd year:
-Parenting - Navigate through the transition of my daughter leaving home and charting her own path. Stay open to what she needs from me and give it readily. Spend time hanging out with her whenever possible. Try to dribble bits of advice to her that I wish I'd had when I was her age and hope some of it sticks. Let her know how fabulous she is and how much I've enjoyed being her Mom, her roomie, her movie buddy, her disciplinarian, her catcher and her bank account. Pray often that she is safe in the world.

-Personal - Own up to my psychoses and let them drift into nothingness when they show up.
Trust and be brave through the transitions ahead for Annalise and possibly Steve. Visit my parents and my grandma more often, visit my distant friends, connect with them and give them all big, warm hugs.

-Career goals - Get published for real. Give time to my work. Find the flow of the homeless doc and hop in to it, stay true to it, don't drift, follow the course. Make another feature, do it better and stay saner, get more help with the paperwork this time. Build a digital darkroom.

Run the marathon.

And do more of what Mother Theresa advises us:
Always leave someone happier than you found 'em.
