Whatsa hoot?
When I'm editing documentary footage that features a person, I start picking up on things they say, little things they do and sometimes I catch myself talking like them in my real life.
Roadside Texas features 88 year old Barney Smith, who claps his hands a lot and says, "Hot Dog" and when he needs you to clarify what you just told him, he says, "Whatsa hoot?". He also says, "I'll be..." and he sings, "well, gimme just a minute."
He's a character, if you hear me saying, "whatsa hoot, hot dog" around town, it's okay. It's just a temporary thing.
