Can You Imagine?
I am yet to find a child who is not interested in listening to stories. No matter what ethnicity a child belongs to, a child would surely like to hear some stories. I know there are children who don’t have parents, I think for these kids lack of good food or social education is not the greatest loss. The greatest loss for these kids is the power of imagination. Everything that we see around today is due to the imagination of somebody. If you can’t imagine, then you will not be able to create as well.
A child starts imagining for the first time when he or she is lying down with the mother hearing tales of fairies and super heroes. When in the story the hero is losing, the child tries to imagine the ways the hero can win again and rescue the good people. Do you know that even the worst criminals in their childhood would have wanted the good to win over bad? When you nurture such feeling of a child, your child will grow up into a strong adult with great values.
As a part of our loft conversions we had put a window on the roof which would give a beautiful view of the sky, especially the starry sky in the evenings. I love the way my son would stare into the sky and listen to my stories, he would tell me of what he imagined at times, but on other times he would just sleep off and tell me of some really interesting dreams in the morning.
